Brazil’s Lion of Advertising: Alexandre Gama

Alexandre Gama, a Brazilian publicist and entrepreneur, is the CEO and founder of Neogama, one of the 20 largest advertising agencies in Brazil. Gama was also the first Brazilian to be at the forefront of BBH, a global network of communications agencies, as Chief Executive Creative Officer; and the only Brazilian to be part of the Global Creative Board, a committee made up of six creative leaders from the global Publicis Groupe holding company. Gama began his career in 1982 and worked in several agencies as an award winning writer and as part of senior management until 1999 when he set up Neogama. In its first year, Neogama won a lion at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by two more lions in 2003. Alexandre Gama himself has won 23 lions, and taught a master class at Cannes in 2008. He has been involved in publicity work in various capacities, started an instrumental Brazilian guitar project, and is a partner in BAC, UK, a manufacturer of high-quality sports cars.

Gama has received multiple prestigious advertising awards. In 2006 , a group of 250 advertising professionals elected Gama as one of the seven most important professionals in the history of Brazilian advertising.
